The Goat is a landmark pub located in the well known Goatstown Area in South Dublin. A fine traditional bar which has been extensively renovated over the years to provide our patrons with a superior atmosphere and exceptional facilities. Predominantly known as ‘Dublin’s Sporting Pub’ The Goat was the first major Dublin pub to screen all of the sporting events for our patrons, this tradition continues however, The Goat is also now just as renowned for its very fine food, drink and faultless customer service. With our well appointed function rooms we can cater for all of our customer’s needs and our team of chefs can tailor our menus to provide for specific tastes, seasons and most importantly budgets! Throughout the summer of 2010 we have hosted weekly BBQs with live entertainment and quality food. Our state of the art 3D and LCD TV screens show every sporting occasion, during a Dubs match the atmosphere is second to none and each year for The Cheltenham Racing Festival The Goat is a pure thoroughbred! We have a large private customer car park and are close to the Luas and local Bus Routes so are easily accessible for all to enjoy. The Goat’s dedicated staff are there to assist our patrons in every way in order to ensure that they have the best possible experience during their time with whether that is for a cup of coffee or a full scale wedding banquet.

Popped in for early dinner while car was being repaired nearby. Love this place and the food is fab. Daughter loved kids fish & chips - portion huge and presented lovely, we had old faithful roast of day and good as always. Other daughter had stir-fry but sauce too strong for her liking but waitress quickly took it away and brought down a replacement from the menu. Super friendly staff and lovely food as always!

Popped in for a quick lunch. Had a starter Chicken Caesar Salad. It was fabulous. the chicken was freshly fried and the bacon was crisp tasty and plentiful. It was dressed with plenty of parmesan cheese. It also came with a slice of home made brown bread and butter. So delicious and only €6.50.

Will come again and for dinner next time.

Late breakfast in this Rugger Institution, they dropped the ball this time: great atmosphere and really nice staff however I was served with a generous pot of tea with just two sugar sachets, badly let down by dirty cup which waiting staff acknowledged was a continual problem, egg shell in the fried eggs, meal had been left under a salamander for too long, plate nuclear and resulting in eggs hard and yellowing, black and white pudding tasted just about going over, if not off, black pudding had gristle, sausages very fatty and overly salty. A dreadful breakfast though not unusual by Irish culinary standards, how do we get away with it? Overall no better than a greasy spoon breakfast in the poorest part of the city. So bad I didn't complain: following a few poor quality lunches there in recent years, being served with cheap cuts of meat and high south side prices this was my last visit.
