Ate with my dinner club and hired a private dining room. The service was a little stretched but extremely pleasant throughout. Everybody enjoyed their food and all said they would return. I would highly recommend this eatery.

We had been to Marcel's on Mary rd a few times and loved it so thought it would be the perfect choice for a night out for 6. A mistake. The service was shocking, took about 30 minutes just to order drinks, it just seemed to be all over the place. The Italian head waiter was very nice but the others (there were about 10 other people came to our table throughout the night) just didn't care. 3 of our party got the chicken starter and they were all completely different portion sizes, the biggest was over twice the size of the smallest. We all got the steak, which in fairness was very good. However when we got the bill we had been charged for 8 steaks, there were 6 of us at the table. Not an easy mistake to make and it really spoiled the evening. We won't be rushing back which is a shame because I loved Marcel's in it's old home.

Visited Marcel's last Friday for lunch. My food was lovely, particularly the lamb which was delicious. Our waiters were lovely until another party arrived early and they required our table. We were rushed off our table with undue haste and this soured the meal for most of us. Honestly, I would give this restaurant a second chance but my husband flatly refuses. A real shame! I honestly hope Marcel's owner/manager reads this review and takes it on board. Don't undermine great food and attentive service by falling at the final hurdle.

A real gem of a discovery hidden in Ballsbridge - definitely worth another visit. My only criticism would be our waitress, I fully understand, that she may well have been working all day, and we were the 9.30 sitting... However I find it inexcusable to ever interrupt people when they are, quite obviously, mid conversation - she was almost insisting on talking through us to be heard.... Grrrr! Luckily the maître d was delightful and could not have been anymore attentive. Next time we'll remember to order sides! Looking forward to our next visit!

Ate here with a friend last week for the first time. It's the perfect neighbourhood restaurant, We got the early bird which is fantastic value. I had the best sirloin steak I've ever had. Every part of the meal was delicious. Great wine list too. And the staff are brilliant. So friendly. I can't wait to go back to try the Sunday Lunch!

My new favourite restaurant in Dublin. I went for an early bird with a friend and we both tried different things on the menu. Such good value, €25 for three courses and each one better than the last. The highlight was the chocolate peanut dessert, has to be the nicest dessert I have ever had. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall a really good dining experience.

We went for a late lunch in what used to be the Espresso bar, god we did well! The restaurant still has the same warm feel with the added value of that rich orange adorned across the room. It was our first time and we can't wait to return. The service was way above average, prompt, friendly and professional, they took us in, despite having no reservation and being here after the last order time.. The food was simply superb: himself had the cod, served with perfectly well cooked baby vegetables and a delicate broth. I rejoiced over their vegetarian option: globe artichoke heart with wild mushrooms, sauteed potatoes, what appears to be root vegetable crisps. I have to say it was an outstanding dish and showing a real interest in pleasing vegetarian's tastes!
We went for desserts: the chocolate "snickers" that had that French "je ne sais quoi" with its mirror chocolate glaze was sinful. The caramel tart could have done with a little extra salt to make it a salted caramel tart but the gingerbread ice cream served with it, made up for it. The set lunch (2 course €20 / 3 course €25) guarantees repeat visits as you couldn't help getting hooked up for that much quality at that price!

went here with my friend on a voucher we got over the christmas. can honestly say it was one of the nicest restaurants I've ever eaten in. We asked for some sides that weren't included in our voucher and we weren't even charged extra. Staff were really nice and the owner himself was on hand asking did we want a tour around the place which was a lovely touch. will definitely be going back again - lovely to go to for a special occasion and really nice location.

5 of us dined in the bright mooreish room. Great value lunch menu for 2 course or 3. Asked for a starter portion of the risotto, which is pearl risotto...Probably could have had a slighty stronger pesto, but good nonetheless as was the suckling pig starter. The lamb roast of the day special sounded too good to leave and was. Also it was refreshing that veg came on the plate & the mandatory chips were delicious. Was going to leave desert but when i saw the glossy chocolate finger & was assured that it was the best 'snickers' desert ever had to try it and it was...the Best... Fab service, even showed us the rooms upstairs. So an excellent business lunch and will definitely be back for the eve meal, soon.
