True to it's name, the much loved Chameleon Restaurant has undergone somewhat of a change, introducing a new Asian Tapas menu in the restaurant's new ground floor Spice Bar.

The new Spice Bar Menu features a tempting selection of some of the Chameleon's renowned dishes; delicious crispy squid, two-day marinated pork, beef 'rendang', beef in spiced coconut milk and 'perkedel', potato and chickpea cake with aubergine mayonnaise, along with some new additions, including; soft shell crab on slices of marinated red grapefruit and a Balinese yellow curry.

Perfect for diners who want a quick bite, the Spice Bar Menu also features a great selection of Craft Beers and over 40 wines to choose from.

The Chameleon Restaurant's upstairs Opium and Bali rooms will continue to serve the much loved Rijst-tafel menus, a selection of six different menus featuring the best of Indonesian contemporary cuisine, for a more leisurely feast.

Top quality food and what is a comparatively reasonable price. I ordered the Java menu (€35), my friend the Vegetarian menu (€30) and we had a vast selection of flavours and each was delicious! We took our time and the staff were happy to let us stay chatting well into the night. Lovely intimate atmosphere, so nice we didn't want to leave and try to find a quiet bar to finish the night in. Luckily the staff were wonderfully accommodating and let us stay sipping our wine and pretty much cleaned around us until they very apologetically said they had to close up! I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience.

I first went here for a birthday with my family and we all loved it. The menu has different set meals with multiple small dishes and the staff are always so good at explaining each section or any questions you have. I usually don't like this way of ordering as I feel like I'm eating lots of little things but still peckish at the end... however they give a perfect amount so that you are left satisfied and also get a little taste of a few things :) I've been 3 times now and each time we all get different set meals and share among us. They advise you do this too and its a really nice and relaxed way of having a meal together. Plus the food is amazing!
One of the things I like most about the place is the Eastern style interior design and the relaxed seating. You can choose to sit at tables or on little cushions... the cushions are defo the best! Its such a gem in Dublin and something a little different.
Its a great place for birthdays or any special occasion or just a dinner with friends. They do an early bird too (not sure what time)..which I think was around €17 for a meal. Really good value and good for students ! ;) Please stay your amazing prices haha
Would (and have) highly recommend this place!

Six of us went to this Restaurant for dinner to celebrate our friend's Birthday. We ordered 6 set menus as recommended by the waitress. A number of very small "tapas" dishes arrived for the six of us and I thought they were the starters when in fact they were the whole meal. To top it all, the bill was €360 which included a Service Charge of €40...completely outrageous for the service / food we received. I can honestly say I have never experienced such bad value for money. It was a complete rip off. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This by far is my favorite restaurant in Dublin!!!
The whole experience from the time you walk in the door to the time you leave it just amazing. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant & I highly recommend it for a new experience if you looking to try something new.
It is that little bit more pricey but its well worth it. The food is made to perfection, the staff are all so pleasant & helpful. <3

Definitely a place to go when you feel like trying something different. Fantastic atmosphere and service. The portions are quite small but are accompanied by loads of sides, so definitively wont leave you hungry. I will be back!

A friend recommended this place without telling us too much what to expect so this was quite a nice surprise.
The style of food can be described as Asian Tapas, although you don't choose from a variety of dishes but from set menus.

The place stretches along three floors and has an middle eastern atmosphere to it. The staff was brilliant. The waiter was very attentive, explained the concept of the set menus very well and offered recommendation on drinks.

The food itself was absolutely divine. There was not one dish that was not that good or mediocre. Everything we had on our table was bursting with flavour and was absolutely delicious. If i can have any complaint than it's that the portions are quite big and because it was so good i didn't leave anything on my plate and could barely move.

Great experience with great staff and great food. We will definitely return.

Ate here for the first time on Valentine's day (2015) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There was a very reasonable offer for 2 (considering it was valentine's night), the decor is stunning - in reality it is a small cramped space but with mirrors and well laid out tables it didn't feel like it at all. There are little nooks with low tables where you can lounge on pillows while you eat - unfortunately we didn't get one of these but I suspect you have to book those in advance, The food was delicious, got a selection of: nasi goreng, lamb curry (can't remember what type!), chicken satay, japanese tender beef and delicious pan stir-fried veg. It was all prepared to perfection with excellent presentation.
There was a somewhat limited wine selection but we got a very nice riesling.
Finally our waiter was terrific, very friendly and open to explaining the "dutch rice-table" set up.
All in all, a terrific experience and we will be back again and hopefully secure one of the lounging tables!
